Envoy hopes more Indonesians join Kuwait’s workforce

KUWAIT: The Embassy of Indonesia in Kuwait hosted the “Indonesia Winter Market” on Saturday, featuring traditional dance performances, live music, and a variety of authentic Indonesian cuisine. On the sidelines of the event, Ambassador of Indonesia to Kuwait Lena Maryana said in a statement that this is an annual event for the Indonesian community in Kuwait taking advantage of the weather to bring their community together. “It serves as a small showcase of Indonesia’s rich culture and culinary heritage, offering everyone a chance to enjoy the diversity of our traditions,” she said.

The event, which took place on Saturday, was filled with a variety of activities that extended into the afternoon and evening, offering attendees a chance to experience and enjoy the vibrant culture of Indonesia. Although the busy schedule limited the number of performances, there was still much to explore and appreciate throughout the day.

The ambassador also highlighted other important celebrations held this month, noting that the Indonesian Christian community in Kuwait had just celebrated Christmas. Additionally, the Indonesian nursing community gathered on December 22 to celebrate Mother’s Day, as observed in Indonesia.

On the growing relationship between Indonesia and Kuwait, the Indonesian Ambassador shared that trade between the two nations continues to thrive, with an increasing number of skilled workers contributing to Kuwait’s vital sectors. She added that the Indonesian community in Kuwait has grown to around 7,000 people. Ambassador Maryana said she was optimistic even more Indonesians will play a crucial role in Kuwait’s workforce in the future.

The ambassador concluded by saying that the event reflected the spirit of unity and celebration, highlighting Indonesia’s rich culture, cuisine, and talent, while further strengthening the bonds between the Indonesian community and the host country, Kuwait.
