KUWAIT: A new project for a medical university city will be key in advancing medical education and healthcare services in Kuwait, said Kuwait’s Ministers of Health and Higher Education. During a meeting on Tuesday, the ministers discussed the project’s design phases and emphasized their plans to strengthen cooperation between the education and healthcare sectors.
Both ministers highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Health to ensure the effective implementation of this vital project, which seeks to enhance medical education and provide advanced healthcare services to the community.
Minister of Higher Education Dr Nader Al-Jallal emphasized that the project will prepare and qualify national personnel according to global standards in medicine and research. The campus will feature a teaching hospital and a research center for medical students which will play a critical role in healthcare provision. The integrated teaching hospital will combine healthcare services with student training in a cutting-edge, practical environment.
Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi described the project as a transformative shift for both the healthcare and academic sectors. He noted that the teaching hospital will be a leading institution for advanced medical education and quality healthcare services, offering a training environment aligned with the latest global standards. The project will foster medical innovation and research, further enhancing the sustainability and development of Kuwait’s healthcare sector.
The ministers reiterated their commitment to supporting the project, which will contribute significantly to Kuwait’s development vision and its global standing in education and healthcare. The meeting included a presentation by the Kuwait University Projects Department on the initial design phases of the Medical University City, along with the proposed budget and implementation procedures.
