Arab unity in focus as Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, Prince Al-Hussein hold talks

Jordan’s Crown Prince emphasizes need to expand economic cooperation

KUWAIT: His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah welcomed Crown Prince of Jordan Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II and his accompanying official delegation on Sunday afternoon at Bayan Palace, marking the beginning of the Crown Prince’s official visit to Kuwait.

The two leaders underscored their strong commitment to advancing Arab unity, stressing the importance of greater cooperation to promote peace, stability, and prosperity across the region. Crown Prince Al-Hussein highlighted the partnership between Jordan and the Gulf states as a model for Arab integration, expressing pride in the longstanding ties between Jordan and Kuwait and their peoples. He emphasized the need to expand economic cooperation, particularly in key sectors of mutual interest.

The discussions also addressed urgent regional issues, with a focus on the situation in Gaza. Both sides called for increased Arab efforts to end the conflict, secure the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, prevent further displacement, and ramp up humanitarian assistance. On Syria, the leaders reaffirmed the necessity of supporting efforts to preserve the country’s unity, stability, and the safety of its citizens. In addition to these pressing issues, the leaders explored ways to deepen bilateral cooperation across various sectors, with a shared goal of strengthening ties and expanding mutual interests in both regional and international matters.

The meeting was chaired by His Highness the Crown Prince of Kuwait, joined by Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya, Governor of Mubarak Al-Kabeer and Head of the Honorary Delegation Sheikh Sabah Badr Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, along with senior Kuwaiti officials. On the Jordanian side, the discussions were led by Crown Prince Al-Hussein, and included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of the Crown Prince Zaid Baqain, and Jordan’s Ambassador to Kuwait Sinan Al-Majali.

Following the discussions, His Highness the Crown Prince of Kuwait hosted a luncheon in honor of Crown Prince Al-Hussein and the accompanying delegation. Later, the Crown Prince of Jordan received Foreign Minister Al-Yahya at Bayan Palace, where they reviewed the strong fraternal relations between the two countries and peoples and discussed ways to enhance and develop these ties to achieve mutual aspirations and interests. — Agencies
