KUWAIT: The curtain closed (Saturday) on the competitions of the first edition of the “EQUICIETY” championship for “Dressage”, which was held at the Kuwait Equestrian Center amid strong competition between the riders, as the championship witnessed a large participation compared to the number of participants since the launch of this sport three years ago. In the training level, Saad Al-Mutairi came first place with 72.59 points, followed by Sulaiman Baqer, Hamad Al-Azmi, Maryam Bahrami, Rawan Al-Kandari and Fatima Al-Khamis.
In the basic level, Dalal Al-Sharhan came first with 68.41 points, followed by Dalal Al-Haqoul, Dalal Al-Sharhan, Maryam Bahrami and Jabour Sijidi.
The competition was strong in the light level, between riders Talal Al-Hazim and Hussein Al-Kharafi, where Hussein Al-Kharafi topped the first round with 68.16 points, followed by Talal Al-Hazim in the second and third places, and Talal Al-Hazim participated in the second round with two horses, achieving first place with SILVIO and second place with BLACK OUT, as Al-Kharafi did not participate in this round and only participated in the first round.
The champions were crowned by tournament sponsor Sheikh Sabah Mubarak Al Sabah and Sheikha Fajr Badr Al Sabah. Sheikh Sabah Al Mubarak emphasized that the “EQUICIETY” tournament witnessed strong competitions between several riders to achieve the first places, and thanked Sheikha Fajr Badr Al Sabah for her efforts in promoting the sport of dressage in Kuwait.
For her part, Fajr Badr Al-Sabah confirmed that the “EQUICIETY” tournament that will be organized annually to serve the riders and is accredited by the Kuwait Equestrian Federation and supervised by international judges. She said:” We started dressage several years ago and we had the honor of organizing many tournaments in more than one club with the support of Sheikh Sabah Mubarak Al Sabah until the dream came true and the sport of Dressage spread in Kuwait.
Rider Fajr Badr Al Sabah pointed out that Sheikh Sabah Al Mubarak is the “spiritual father” of Dressage in Kuwait, and he is the one who encourages her in equestrianism in order to encourage people to practice in this beautiful sport that is the basis of equestrianism, and she proposed the establishment of “Dressage” in Kuwait, and she thanked the Kuwait Equestrian Federation, and those in charge of managing the Kuwait Equestrian Center, the host of the tournament, in particular, Khaled Al-Kharafi, Khalifa Al-Kharafi and Ali Al-Kharafi, who provided all support to Dressage since its establishment in Kuwait. Fajr Al Sabah explained that the first tournament was held three years ago with the participation of only 9 riders, and today the number has exceeded 40 participants.
