20 years since the establishment of Al-Messilah Club

KUWAIT: President of Messilah Club Bader Tariq Al-Mailam said the club since its establishment in 2004 taught several generations and riders who are still outstanding in the Kuwait equestrianism by an elite group of Arab and European coaches, so that the club continues its mission successfully along with other clubs in the country.

Al-Mailam said the club has a group of male and female riders in the novice and mid categories, as well as a group of elite experienced riders which opens the way for the emergence of new generations of riders who will be relied on in the future.

He said the many local and international tournaments held in Kuwait increase the technical level of the riders and encourage them to continue with this noble sport, adding that what distinguishes Kuwait the most is the presence of many clubs and training centers, which encouraged many persons to practice the equestrianism sport in general and show jumping in particular, adding that there are champions who reached international levels and won medals for Kuwait. He said the main goal behind the club’s existence is to teach children the arts of equestrianism and preserve this noble sport.

Meanwhile, Al-Mailam signed a contract with Husam Rajab as the first director of the club and send him to Germany to buy horses, and at the start of 2009 season riders were being received and 40 were officially registered and the number increased to 100 by December in all activities.

Rajab said the club succeeded in discovering many riders who had a bright future in the equestrianism world such as Abdulrahman Al-Fuzaie, Abdullah Al-Roudhan, Ghazi Al-Jraiwai, Bandar Jumaa, Latifa Al-Hajiri and Najlaa Al-Jraiwi.
