KUWAIT: HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah received Ambassador of China to Kuwait Zhang Jianwei at Bayan Palace on Monday. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, strengthening the strategic partnership, and advancing the implementation of developmental projects outlined in memorandums of understanding signed during the recent visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to China.
Cabinet last week emphasized the importance of strengthening its strategic cooperation with China, as part of its broader economic agenda aimed at securing sustainable growth and enhancing global competitiveness. This follows a series of high-level discussions between the two nations on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and technology. During its meeting last Wednesday, Cabinet directed relevant ministries to closely follow up on agreements and memorandums of understanding signed with China. It also urged the concerned ministries and authorities to speed up the implementation of key developmental projects.
Discussions covered the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, electricity grid and renewable energy development, the creation of a low-carbon green waste recycling system, housing development initiatives, environmental infrastructure for wastewater treatment plants and the development of free zones and economic zones. They also reviewed mechanisms for implementing the joint five-year cooperation plan for 2024–2028, as outlined in the recent bilateral agreement.
The meeting was attended by Abdulaziz Dakhil Al-Dakhil, Head of the Prime Minister’s Diwan; Abdullah Al-Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Dr Noura Al-Mashaan, Minister of Public Works; Dr Mahmoud Boushehri, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy; Abdullatif Al-Meshari, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs; Noura Al-Fassam, Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment; Tareq Al-Roumi, Minister of Oil; Dr Meshal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Director-General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority; and Sameh Jowhar Hayat, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asia Affairs. — KUNA
