Kuwait seeks stronger regional leadership in technology: Minister

KUWAIT: Minister of State for Communications Omar Al-Omar emphasized on Thursday Kuwait’s commitment to enhancing its regional standing as a leading hub for technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He highlighted the country’s focus on empowering its youth and fostering their creativity as a key driver of sustainable development. Al-Omar made these remarks during the opening of NEXUS 2024. The technology, innovation, and startups exhibition is a platform that brings together key experts and emerging companies in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, digital transformation, cybersecurity, and telecommunications. The exhibition runs for three days.

The minister emphasized the Ministry of Communications’ dedication to fostering an ecosystem of creativity and innovation through public-private partnerships. This includes supporting small and medium-sized enterprises and further developing the nation’s technological infrastructure, in line with the directives of Kuwait’s leadership.

“The rapid advancements in digital fields such as Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, and cybersecurity form the cornerstone of modern nations’ progress toward a secure future. This is driven by a knowledge-based society, with the key element being an ambitious human resource pool, continuously supported by the state in leading its technological future and achieving its developmental goals,” said Al-Omar.

The exhibition showcases over 60 leading companies, startups, and experts from various sectors, offering the latest developments in technology and innovation. Its primary aim is to empower the digital transformation of both private and public sector companies. NEXUS 2024 will feature conferences, workshops, and sessions on cutting-edge topics, including Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, fintech, and healthtech. The event will provide attendees with valuable insights into advanced technological solutions and facilitate discussions on the latest industry trends.

Additionally, the exhibition will host a startup competition with around 100 participating companies, offering a total prize pool of KD 30,000. This competition will provide entrepreneurs with a unique opportunity to present their innovative ideas to more than 30,000 attendees, including industry professionals and potential investors. — KUNA
