KUWAIT: After Kuwait renewed its call to finalize the demarcation of its maritime borders with Iraq beyond boundary point 162, Iraq’s Ambassador to Kuwait Almanhal Alsafi affirmed his country’s commitment to resolving all outstanding issues, including this critical matter.

Speaking on the sidelines of the UAE’s 53rd National Day reception, Alsafi emphasized that negotiations are progressing steadily under Iraq’s political leadership, with further discussions planned in the near future. He noted that significant understandings have already been reached and that formal talks are expected to commence before the end of the year. Expressing optimism, he highlighted the extensive coordination efforts, which he believes will soon yield tangible results.

Addressing Kuwait’s preparations for the 26th Gulf Cup, Alsafi praised the country’s efforts, particularly following the successful conclusion of the GCC Summit. He congratulated Kuwait on its exemplary organization and expressed hope for seamless collaboration between the Kuwaiti and Iraqi football federations to ensure the tournament’s success.

The ambassador emphasized the importance of Iraqi fan participation, commending Kuwait’s renowned hospitality, and expressed his desire for Iraq to retain the championship title. However, he maintained that the ultimate victory would go to the most deserving team. Highlighting the tournament’s significance, he underscored its role as a platform for fostering regional unity and sportsmanship, stressing the importance of excelling in both organizational and technical standards.
