KUWAIT: The Ministry of Interior has announced that a number of key roads in Kuwait will be closed on Sunday, December 3, starting at 10:30 AM, in preparation for the 45th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit. The closures will remain in effect until the GCC heads of state leave the country.

The roads and traffic diversions are as follows: King Faisal Road: Traffic will be closed in both directions. For vehicles heading from the airport roundabout towards Kuwait City, traffic will be diverted to Ghazali Road and Road 6.5. For those heading from Kuwait City towards the airport, traffic will be redirected to the Sixth Ring Road towards Jahra.

Sixth Ring Road: The road will be closed for traffic traveling from Jahra towards Messila. Vehicles will be diverted to King Faisal Road towards Kuwait City. Traffic heading from Messila towards Jahra will also be closed up to King Faisal Road.

King Fahad Road: The road will be closed for traffic coming from Ahmadi, with diversions towards Sixth Ring Road leading to Messila. Traffic coming from Kuwait City towards Ahmadi will be closed until the Fifth Ring Road, with diversions to Jahra and Salmiya.

Sabhan Road: Both directions of Sabhan Road will be closed to traffic for the duration of the summit.

Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and follow traffic instructions as the closures are in place for the safety and security of the summit’s high-level participants. The Ministry of Interior has emphasized that the roads will be reopened once the heads of state depart.

The summit, which is being hosted by Kuwait, will bring together leaders from the six GCC member states to discuss key political, economic, and security issues facing the region.

People departing from Kuwait International Airport on Sunday, starting at 10:30 am, should use Road 60 (Ghazali Road) during the road closure times in conjunction with the 45th Gulf Summit. Drivers can use Ghazali Road (Road 60) to reach Dajeej, then drive on the road leading to the Kuwait Airways Building T4 to access the Kuwait International Airport Building and the Jazeera Airways Building T3. — KUNA
