MoI installs AI traffic cams, nabs reckless drivers, crushes cars

KUWAIT: The ministry of interior announced the installation of advanced artificial intelligence cameras to enhance road safety and enforce traffic regulations across Kuwait. The ministry said in a press release on Thursday that this came in accordance with the directives of Acting Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah.

The ministry called on all motorists to comply with road safety regulations, as this comprehensive approach to traffic monitoring aims to reduce dangerous driving behaviors and improve overall road safety in Kuwait. Interior ministry personnel also nabbed a number of reckless drivers whose actions on the roads posed a threat to others’ lives. The detention was carried out upon instructions of Sheikh Fahad, a ministry statement said.

The offenders were seen in a video clip on social media, which also showed their vehicles being crushed. The ministry’s troops acted immediately to arrest them and destroy their vehicles, the statement said. The ministry warned there will be no leniency in enforcing traffic laws and punishing persons who endanger others’ lives. — KUNA
