National Guard official inspects task force responsible for securing summit

MANAMA/KUWAIT: Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya, on behalf of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, delivered a written message to King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa of Bahrain, inviting him to attend the upcoming Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit in Kuwait on December 1, 2024.

The message, which emphasizes the strong historical ties and brotherly relations between the two countries, was presented during a meeting between Minister Al-Yahya and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa. The meeting took place as part of the foreign minister’s official visit to Manama.

Senior officials from multiple government agencies have been working tirelessly to ensure the successful preparation of the upcoming high-profile summit. In Kuwait, National Guard Undersecretary Lieutenant General Hashem Al-Rifai conducted an inspection tour on Monday of the Khaleej Task Force, which is responsible for securing the GCC Summit.

According to a statement from the Kuwait National Guard, Al-Rifai visited the task force shortly after it began its security duties at key locations, including the St. Regis Kuwait and Four Points by Sheraton Kuwait hotels. The operation is being carried out in close coordination with the Ministry of Interior.

The statement highlighted the immense significance of the summit for Kuwait, underscoring the country’s readiness to host such a major international event and its commitment to showcasing its global standing. The National Guard has conducted several rehearsals and drills to ensure the task force is fully prepared for its critical security role.

Lieutenant General Al-Rifai stressed the importance of maintaining heightened security awareness and executing all tasks in accordance with the directives of the National Guard leadership, including the Commander of the Kuwait National Guard, Sheikh Mubarak Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and Deputy Commander, Sheikh Faisal Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. — KUNA
