KUWAIT: Palestinian Ambassador to Kuwait Rami Tahboub announced that the Palestinian presidency has welcomed the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) recent decision to issue arrest warrants for the Zionist entity’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant. Tahboub called the decision a pivotal first step toward justice for the Palestinian people , who have endured more than 76 years of hardship.

He emphasized that this marks a return to international justice, reinforcing the commitment to uphold human rights and hold war criminals accountable, no matter where they are. “We now call on all signatory states to the Rome Statute to implement this decision,” he said in a statement. “Based on the ICC’s decision, Netanyahu should be arrested whenever he travels to countries that are signatories to the Rome Statute. The court also has the authority to request that non-signatory states carry out the arrest.”

Tahboub noted that several countries, including Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Ireland, Jordan, the UK, Canada, Norway, and Italy, have declared their commitment to enforcing this decision. “The European Union has also issued a statement in support, with Josep Borrell confirming the EU’s commitment to the decision. These are very encouraging responses,” he said.

Tahboub emphasized that no country should be influenced by any rhetoric opposing the ICC’s ruling.

“With 124 countries as signatories to the Rome Statute, the global majority recognizes the necessity of delivering international justice to the Palestinian people, who have endured genocide, forced starvation, and displacement as weapons against their men, women, and children,” he said. “Over 750 infants under the age of one have been killed by bombing or starvation, in addition to the forced displacement occurring, which constitutes another crime against humanity.”

He also highlighted that since the onset of the genocide in Gaza, the Palestinian leadership has been in continuous coordination with Arab nations on this matter. Regarding the recent use of the United States’ veto power to block measures aimed at stopping the Zionist genocide in Gaza, Tahboub noted: “This is the fourth time the US has used its veto during the genocide. This behavior is not surprising from the US, as it continues to support and sponsor these actions.”
