KUWAIT: The Kuwait Special Olympics delegation will participate in a camp and a regional training course for international coaches of snow running sports and cross country skiing organized by the International Special Olympics for the Middle East and North Africa Region (MENA) from November 22 until November 25 in Cairo. This is part of preparation for the Special Olympics Winter Games, which will be held in Torino, Italy, in March 2025.

Tomooh Sports Club Assistant Secretary, official representative of Kuwait Special Olympics Fahad Al-Sahly, said the camp is an opportunity to improve abilities and exchange experiences between athletes as preparations are being made for the winter games. Kuwait Special Olympics is keen on preparing athletes and technical departments for competing in the world’s competitions and to present a respected image of Kuwait’s disabled sports.

He said the training program began two months ago with physical fitness, followed by practical training at the Sea Sports Club. Kuwait will participate in the games with three players in the snow running and cross country. Al-Sahly thanked the MENA Special Olympics for organizing the camp, as well as Kuwaiti official entities headed by the Public Authority for Sport, Tomooh Sports Club, and Kuwait Sea Sports Club for hosting the training of athletes. — KUNA
