KUWAIT: Acting Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah affirmed on Tuesday that the relationship between Kuwait and Oman is one of brotherhood and shared destiny. He described the ties between their leaderships and peoples as strong and deeply rooted. Sheikh Fahad made these remarks during a ceremony hosted by the Omani Embassy in Kuwait to mark Oman’s 54th National Day. The event was attended by senior officials and heads of diplomatic missions in Kuwait.
Extending his heartfelt congratulations to the government and people of Oman, Sheikh Fahad wished the country continued progress and prosperity under the leadership of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. He emphasized that Oman holds a special place in the hearts of all Kuwaitis. Regarding preparations for the 45th summit of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), scheduled to be held in Kuwait on December 1, Sheikh Fahad confirmed Kuwait’s full readiness to host the event, stating, “Preparations are clear and well underway.”
Omani Ambassador to Kuwait Dr Saleh Al-Kharousi, in his speech at the event, highlighted the ever-growing relationship between Kuwait and Oman. He noted that this year, bilateral relations were further reinforced through high-level meetings between their leaders and the 10th session of the Joint Omani-Kuwaiti Committee held in October.
Ambassador Kharousi also emphasized the outcomes of these meetings, including the signing of memorandums of understanding and executive programs in various fields. He mentioned the launch of the Duqm Refinery, a joint strategic economic project that benefits both nations, as a key milestone this year. Additionally, he noted a significant increase in bilateral trade, which has exceeded $4 billion in 2024. — KUNA
