AMMAN: Kuwait affirmed Wednesday that Palestinian children are the primary victims of the daily brutal crimes committed by Zionist occupation forces against defenseless civilians, with little to no meaningful action or accountability from the international community. These actions egregiously violate international law, including resolutions from the General Assembly, the Security Council, and the Human Rights Council.
This statement was made by Kuwait’s Ambassador to Jordan Hamad Al-Marri during his participation in a two-day international conference in Amman. The conference, titled the role of international community and civil society organizations in promoting and respecting the rights of Palestinian children, opened Wednesday under the patronage of Jordan’s King Abdullah II. It is organized by the Arab League General Secretariat in partnership with Jordan’s Ministry of Social Development and Palestine’s Ministry of Social Affairs.
Marri praised King Abdullah II for his generous patronage of the conference, which serves as a continuation of the first edition of the conference hosted by Kuwait in 2017. That conference was held under the auspices and presence of the late Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
“For over seven decades, we have all witnessed the ongoing human rights violations by (Zionist) occupation forces, who continue to use excessive force against defenseless civilians, a situation that has worsened since the beginning of the war on Gaza.”
He explained that this has led to the deaths of thousands, most of whom are children and women, over the past year, resulting in the destruction of infrastructure, vital facilities, homes, places of worship, and hospitals. Furthermore, these forces have targeted humanitarian, medical, and media workers. Marri highlighted Kuwait’s urgent humanitarian response to the needs of Gaza, including the establishment of air bridges for relief and numerous civil society humanitarian campaigns since October 7, 2023, to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
He affirmed that Kuwait remains steadfast in its position supporting the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, ensuring that they achieve their full legitimate rights and establish their independent state. He also emphasized that Kuwait, through its membership in the Human Rights Council for the 2024-2026 term, continues to support global human rights issues, including the Palestinian cause, to strengthen and protect them. — KUNA
