Kuwait set to host 45th Gulf Summit on December 1

DOHA/MUSCAT: His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent an official invitation to the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to attend the upcoming 45th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, which is scheduled to be hosted in Kuwait on December 1.

The invitation was conveyed by Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya, during a meeting on Monday in Doha with the Deputy Amir of Qatar Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani. The message underscores the deep historical ties and brotherly relations between the two nations and their peoples.

During his visit, His Highness the Amir’s representative, Minister Al-Yahya met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani. Both sides reviewed the strong ties between Kuwait and Qatar, discussing ways to further strengthen and develop these relations in various fields. They also addressed the latest regional and international developments and key issues of mutual interest.

Preparations for the summit are in full swing in Kuwait, with ministries collaborating to ensure it runs smoothly. Notably, the public works ministry is overseeing necessary road works in streets where the GCC leaders will travel, while the information ministry has launched a public awareness campaign about the summit this week.

The message was received by Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi during a meeting in Muscat. Minister Al-Yahya also visited the United Arab Emirates on Sunday, where he delivered a GCC summit invitation to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan. — KUNA
