Zain contributes to raising awareness on World Diabetes Day

KUWAIT: Zain announced its exclusive support for the awareness day held at Assima mall to commemorate World Diabetes Day, which takes place annually on November 14. The event was organized by Dasman Diabetes Institute — a center of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) — with the goal of raising public awareness about diabetes, offering medical checkups and consultations, and sharing tips on prevention and treatment.

The event was attended by Zain Kuwait CEO Nawaf Al-Gharabally, Dasman Diabetes Institute Acting Director General Dr Faisal Hamed Al-Refaei, and officials from both organizations. Zain’s support for this initiative stems from the company’s commitment to contribute and engage with various efforts and activities led by public and private sector institutions to enhance public health within the community, especially when it comes to raising awareness about chronic diseases like diabetes, which is highly prevalent in Kuwait.

The awareness day — organized by Dasman Diabetes Institute for the 17th consecutive year — featured a range of health and awareness activities, including free medical tests for blood sugar and vital signs, medical and nutritional consultations, fitness exercises and tips, podiatry advice, and special activities for children. The event also provided an opportunity for attendees to learn about the institute’s research initiatives, with a specialized team present to explain ongoing research efforts and encourage community members to participate in various health research projects.

Dasman Diabetes Institute organized this open day as part of its mission to combat diabetes in Kuwait through research, prevention, training, education, and treatment. The institute remains committed to organizing awareness programs throughout the year to highlight this disease and deliver a message to all members of the community on managing diabetes, understanding its risks, and learning preventive measures. Zain is keen to strengthen its collaboration with various health organizations across the nation — including Dasman Diabetes Institute — to deliver interactive programs and initiatives that help achieve shared goals and support the healthcare system, while also enhancing public health awareness within the community.
