Education minister receives winners of Arab math olympiad

KUWAIT: Minister of Education Jalal Al-Tabtabaei received Saturday the distinguished students who won medals in the fourth Arab Mathematics Olympiad held in Doha, Qatar, from November 10 to 14. The event was organized by the Arab Organization for Education, Culture, and Science (ALECSO). In a statement, the ministry reported that Minister Al-Tabtabaei praised the role of the students’ mathematics instructors in preparing them for participating in the competition, emphasizing that they represent Kuwait’s true investment, as they possess skills and abilities that contribute to enhancing the country’s standing in international scientific forums.

He expressed his pride and admiration for the participating and winning students — Fajer Al-Saheli, Sarah Al-Humaidi, Marwa Al-Azmi, and Hussein Al-Wazzan — commending their efforts and excellence in representing Kuwait in the Olympiad.

Maryam Al-Enezi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Development at the Ministry of Education, praised the results achieved by the Kuwaiti students in the competition, which saw the participation of 22 countries and 84 contestants. She stressed the importance of such participation in developing creativity and encouraging innovation among students.

Sheikha Al-Hajraf, the Educational Supervisor for Mathematics in the Assima Education District and head of the Kuwaiti delegation, emphasized that the participating students were keen to represent Kuwait in the best possible way, showcasing their excellence in scientific discussions, which reflected the strong foundation they had received. Fajer Al-Saheli, from Mariya AlQubtiya School, who won the bronze medal in the Olympiad, expressed her gratitude for Minister Al-Tabtabaei and the mathematics department for their support.

Students Marwa Al-Azmi from Al-Rawda Secondary School and Sarah Al-Humaidi from Qurtuba Secondary School, both of whom received the Certificate of Outstanding Performance, also expressed their thanks to all those who helped prepare them for the international competition, enabling them to represent Kuwait at this scientific event. Hussein Al-Wazzan, another participant, praised the efforts of all the teachers and organizers of the competition, dedicating his achievement to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, praying for his continued health and protection. — KUNA
