KUWAIT: The American University of Kuwait (AUK) board of trustees has approved a forward-thinking strategic plan that positions AUK as a leader in education and innovation, fully aligned with Kuwait’s Vision 2035. The strategic plan underscores AUK’s dedication to contributing to Kuwait’s aspiration of becoming a knowledge-based economy. By providing students with a diverse, globally relevant education, AUK is committed to shaping graduates who will lead and innovate across various sectors in Kuwait and beyond.
“With the approval of this strategic plan, AUK is ready to make a significant impact on developing human capital in line with Vision 2035,” stated Sheikha Dana Nasser Al-Sabah, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “The plan’s objectives and actionable goals reflect AUK’s enduring commitment to academic excellence, community engagement, and sustainable growth. I extend my gratitude to the entire university community for their unwavering dedication and collaboration in bringing this vision to life.”
To advance these strategic goals, the board of trustees has established two new standing committees: the Board Governance Committee and the Board Finance Committee. The Board Governance Committee will focus on ensuring AUK’s policies and governance structures adhere to best practices, while the finance committee will oversee the university’s financial health, emphasizing accountability and responsible resource management.
AUK President Professor Rawda Awwad remarked: “This strategic plan is the culmination of extraordinary efforts from the entire university community, who have come together to chart a transformative path forward for AUK. This collective commitment highlights our readiness to shape AUK’s future. The new committees will offer structured, sustainable support to advance our mission and operational excellence.”
In addition to approving the strategic plan, the board reviewed enrollment trends, financial projections, and the Dartmouth-AUK exchange program. Emphasis was placed on initiatives to enhance enrollment diversity and uphold academic excellence through strategic partnerships. The discussions also reaffirmed AUK’s dedication to sustainable operations and innovation as part of its alignment with Kuwait Vision 2035.
