Crown Prince returns from Azerbaijan

HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled meets IMF, Iraq officials

KUWAIT: His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, representing His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, returned to Kuwait on Wednesday after leading the Kuwaiti delegation at the UN climate change Conference of the Parties (COP29) held in Baku, Azerbaijan. Accompanying His Highness the Crown Prince was an official delegation that included Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya and senior officials from the Crown Prince’s office.

His Highness the Crown Prince met with Iraqi President Abdullatif Rashid on the sidelines of the COP29 summit. His Highness the Crown Prince relayed the greetings of His Highness the Amir to the Iraqi President. During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to boost bilateral relations on various fronts, as well as regional and international developments.

Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled also met with Managing Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva. During the meeting, His Highness the Crown Prince conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir to the IMF managing director and expressed His Highness’ desire and interest in exchanging expertise with the IMF. His Highness the Crown Prince emphasized his commitment to focus on the development and enhancement of the skills of Kuwaiti youth through sharing expertise of the IMF. The two sides discussed topics related to the economy, exchanged views on the latest global developments and explored ways to enhance cooperation.

Upon his return, His Highness the Crown Prince sent a cable to express his gratitude to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his deep appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality extended by Azerbaijan. His Highness the Crown Prince commended Azerbaijan’s prominent global role in hosting the successful summit, and voiced optimism that the summit’s positive outcomes would inspire greater international cooperation in combating climate change, mitigating its effects, and developing practical solutions for sustainable development, ultimately leading to a better future for coming generations. — KUNA
