Shooters aim high at Crown Prince tournament

KUWAIT: Competitions at HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah Annual Shooting Championship continue on Thursday with the skeet 50 targets and the finals for both men and women, as well as the 25m rapid pistol. The results of Tuesday’s events were as follows: In the men’s 10 meter air rifle, Ali Al-Mutairi won first place, followed by Abdullah Al-Harby (second) and Bandar Al-Mutairi (third). On the women’s side, Marian Irzaouqi took first; Ritaj Al-Ziyadi (second) and Al-Jouri Mansour Al-Hashash (third).

In the Arab Shotgun Championship, being held alongside the HH the Crown Prince tournament, Bahrain’s mixed team (Saeed Ali and Marwa Buarki) won the first place in the trap event; Kuwait’s team (Abdulrahman Al-Faihan and Sarah Al-Hawal) took the second place, while Qatar’s Mohammad Al-Rumaihi and Khulond Al-Khalaf and Oman’s team of Hussein Al-Shuhoumi and Shamsa Al-Maliki won third place. President of Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations Eng Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi said the competitions of both events were excellent and the scores were distinguished.

He said the higher organizing committee provided all facilities to participating shooters, and the tournament carried a dear name for all. He congratulated the winners. On behalf of all participants, he thanked HH the Crown Prince for patronizing the tournament, which embodies his support of Kuwait and Arab Sport. Shooter Sarah Al-Hawal (who won two gold and two silver medals in both tournaments) said the levels were high, reflecting the development of women’s shooting sports in the Arab world. She added that the victory will be a motivation for her to perform very well in upcoming competitions.
