DOHA: Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Lieutenant General Sheikh Salem Al-Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah emphasized Wednesday the importance of enhancing security cooperation and integration among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to face security challenges. He added that exchanging information among the Gulf states would strengthen security control, leading to maintaining the safety and security of their citizens.

In a statement, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior noted that this came during Sheikh Salem Al-Nawaf’s leadership of Kuwait’s delegation to the meeting of the GCC Interior Ministries’ Undersecretaries in Doha, preparing for the 41st meeting of the GCC Interior Ministers.

According to the statement, Sheikh Salem Al-Nawaf stressed the need to enhance the efficiency of security agencies among GCC states and to achieve greater coordination in combating crimes in general, especially cybercrime, fraud, and drug trafficking, as well as the trafficking of psychoactive substances. He also emphasized the importance of supporting cooperation to pursue the perpetrators of such crimes. The statement added that participants at the meeting exchanged information to tighten security control across the GCC.

Sheikh Salem Al-Nawaf conveyed to the participants the greetings of the political leadership of the State of Kuwait and the greetings of the Acting Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef Saud Al-Sabah and their wishes for success and guidance for the meeting. The meeting, which comes within the framework of the periodic meetings of the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Interior of the GCC countries, aims at following up and submitting recommendations to Their Highnesses and Excellences the Ministers of Interior in the next meeting, which will contribute to strengthening joint security work and unifying efforts to maintain the safety of the citizens of the GCC countries. — KUNA
