BRUSSELS: Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah Diplomatic Institute signed on Sunday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the College of Europe in Bruges on diplomatic cooperation. The MoU aims to strengthen diplomatic training, exchanging expertise and facing international challenges such as climate change, empowering women, peace, human rights and security.
The signing ceremony was attended by Kuwait Assistant Foreign Minister for Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah Diplomatic Institute Affairs, Ambassador Nasser Al-Sabeeh, the Director of the College of Europe Federica Mogherini, the European Union’s Ambassador to Kuwait Anne Koistinen, and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Belgium and EU Nawaf Al-Enezi. All sides expressed their high aspirations on signing the Mou, noting that it would boost the historic ties between the two sides, and open new horizons to cooperation. - KUNA
Kuwait condemns attack
KUWAIT: Kuwait Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned, Sunday, the terrorist attack that took place at a railway station in Quetta in southwestern Pakistan, which resulted in several causalities. The Ministry, while affirming Kuwait’s stance against all forms of violence and terrorism, also reiterated Kuwait’s solidarity with Pakistan in all its efforts to maintain its security and stability. Kuwait extended its condolences to Pakistan and the families of the victims, wishing a swift recovery for those injured.
A bombing claimed by Pakistani separatists killed 26 people including 14 soldiers at a railway station in the southwestern Balochistan province, a hospital spokesman. The blast hit as passengers waited on a platform at the main railway station in the provincial capital Quetta. “Fourteen members of the army and 12 civilians were killed,” said Wasim Baig, spokesman for Quetta’s Sandeman Provincial Hospital, raising an earlier toll of 25 provided by police. Forty-six members of the security forces and 14 civilians were wounded, the spokesman added. An AFP journalist saw pools of blood and ripped backpacks at the scene, where a large metal sheet protecting passengers from the elements had been blown off. - Agencies
