Visit to include discussions on Palestine, cooperation in technology, energy

KUWAIT: President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and his accompanying delegation are expected to arrive in Kuwait on Sunday on a state visit. During the visit, the UAE president will hold official talks with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The leaders will discuss the situation in Palestine and Lebanon, which requires continuous coordination and consultation between the leaderships of the two countries, officials said. They will also discuss ways to enhance the economic and investment partnerships between the two countries, as well as exchanging expertise by opening new horizons for cooperation in fields such as technology, energy and tourism.

The historic visit of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed reflects of the strong Kuwaiti-Emirati ties, said UAE Ambassador to Kuwait Dr Matar Al-Neyadi. In a statement to KUNA on Saturday, Ambassador Al-Neyadi said the visit comes by an invitation from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The Ambassador added that Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed described the Kuwaiti-Emirati ties as “historic and deep, based on mutual understanding and respect.”

Sheikh Mohamed also affirmed that the UAE and Kuwait are eager to develop relations and cooperation, as well as support joint GCC work. The ambassador said that Kuwait has a special place in the hearts of Emirati people, noting the statement of the UAE’s Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum that “Kuwait’s love is engraved in our land, our hearts and our history.”

Kuwaiti Ambassador to Abu Dhabi Jamal Al-Ghunaim, said the visit is a culmination of continuous cooperation and coordination between the two countries. In a statement to KUNA, Ambassador Al-Ghunaim said that Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s visit translates the nature and strength of the relationship between the ruling families and the peoples of the two brotherly countries in various fields, as well as the progress and prosperity the relations have reached.

He emphasized the importance of the discussions that will take place at the summit between His Highness the Amir of Kuwait and the President of the UAE, especially as the region is going through a critical phase with major challenges, including the situation in Palestine and Lebanon, which require continuous coordination and consultation between the leaderships of the two countries.

The Ambassador also pointed out that the summit meeting would elevate the distinguished relations between the two countries to broader horizons, particularly as both countries look forward to increasing trade exchanges and expanding bilateral cooperation within the framework of Gulf and Arab joint action, achieving sustainable development goals, and realizing the visions of both countries for a better future for their peoples and the region.

“We are confident that this visit will bring prosperity and growth to our two countries and peoples, as historical events have proven the depth of the ties that unite our two nations in times of both adversity and prosperity,” Consul General of Kuwait in Dubai and the Northern Emirates Ambassador Ali Al-Thiadi said. “We look forward to fruitful outcomes from this visit, and we will work together for a prosperous future for our peoples.” He emphasized that the significance of this visit lies in enhancing economic and investment partnerships, as well as exchanging expertise by opening new horizons for cooperation in fields such as technology, energy and tourism. — KUNA
