Exhibition celebrates Arabic calligraphy, Italian craftsmanship

KUWAIT: The Italian Embassy in Kuwait organized an exhibition to celebrate the exquisite beauty of Arabic calligraphy as part of the Italian Cultural Week in Kuwait. The exhibition, titled “Fajr Al-Salam” (Dawn of Peace), was held on Monday at the residence of Italian Ambassador to Kuwait Lorenzo Morini and featured several pieces by Artist Fareed Abdal, using ink from a renowned Italian writing instruments brand.

In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Ambassador Morini said that showcasing Italian craftsmanship through Kuwaiti art is a great opportunity to celebrate both cultures. He also remarked that the peoples of Kuwait and Italy share similar values, principles, and lifestyles, and there will always be areas for further cooperation between the two sides.

Morini noted that the exhibition conveys a message of hope and a new beginning in the realm of bilateral cooperation. He added that this collaboration embodies the strong relations and friendship between Kuwait and Italy and their peoples. Artist Fareed Abdal noted that calligraphy is deeply rooted in Arab culture and has been able to withstand the test of time despite the reliance on machines for writing in the modern age. — KUNA
