KUWAIT: Students from the Australian University visited the Kuwait Times premises as part of a field trip organized through Injaz’s Job Shadow program. This visit aimed to provide the students with valuable insights into Kuwait Times’ rich history, being the first English daily newspaper in the Gulf since its establishment in 1961. The students explored various departments within the newspaper, gaining an understanding of the operations and collaborative efforts that go into producing daily news.

Speaking to Kuwait Times, Abdullah Alhmely, Injaz’s program coordinator, said the Injaz Job Shadow Program provides students and fresh graduates with an opportunity to observe and experience the day-to-day activities of professionals within various departments. He noted that participants will gain insights into career paths, workplace dynamics, and the skills required in different roles.

During the visit, students gained insights into Kuwait Times’ efforts to adapt to the rapidly evolving social media landscape. Content Creator Zainab Dashti highlighted the newspaper’s commitment to leveraging visual storytelling techniques and engaging with audiences across various digital platforms, emphasizing the importance of innovation in the ever-changing media environment.

The students were also offered a tour inside the editorial department where the team explained the process of news gathering, writing, and editing and how a newspaper is produced on a daily basis. The students asked about the industry and marketing-related techniques.

During the tour, the students were excited to see the old archived issues and how the newspaper developed since the early sixties. Digital creator Yousef Abu Ghazaleh took them on a journey through Kuwait’s history in the Kuwait Times archive room, unraveling significant moments and events that have shaped Kuwait’s narrative. Meanwhile, the head of the printing department Al-Watheq Bellah Darwish took the students on a tour of the printing house, where he showed them the process of printing and how Kuwait Times’ staff run and maintain the printing machines.
