Kuwait, Tajikistan deepen bilateral ties

Officials sign deals to boost cooperation in trade, industry, tourism, labor exchange

KUWAIT: The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in Kuwait on Sunday on a visit with a number of Tajik officials. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah received the president at the airport.

The Tajikistan president was also received by Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Al-Sabah, Deputy Chief of the National Guard Sheikh Faisal Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shareeda Al-Maousherji, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya and senior state officials. The president of Tajikistan is accompanied by an official delegation including Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin, Minister of Finance Fayziddin Qahhorzoda, Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir, Minister of Labor and Migration Gulnora Hasanzoda and a number of senior officials in the government.

Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince held meetings with President Rahmon and his accompanying delegation. During the meetings, both sides discussed bilateral ties between the two friendly countries and latest regional and global developments. Sheikh Fahad Al-Yusuf, Sheikh Mohammad, Minister Al-Yahya and senior officials from the Tajikistan government attended the meetings.

The meetings culminated in signing several agreements and memoranda of understanding in the presence of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled and the Tajik president. The two sides signed agreements to boost cooperation in labor exchange in the private sector, diplomatic training, trade, industry, state communications, tourism, standardization and sports. His Highness the Crown Prince on behalf of His Highness the Amir held a banquet in honor of the Tajik president and his accompanying delegation. — KUNA
