KUWAIT: Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon is scheduled to arrive in Kuwait on Sunday for official talks with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, further advancing the strong ties between the two nations.
The visit highlights the solid relations between the two countries and their aspirations for further cooperation. In an interview with KUNA, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the State of Kuwait Zubaidullo Zubaydzoda emphasized that both countries are peace-loving nations, and the upcoming discussions between President Rahmon and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal will address critical regional security threats.
Key topics will include the ongoing Zionist aggression and its impact on civilians in Gaza and Lebanon. Ambassador Zubaydzoda noted that this visit follows President Rahmon’s participation in the BRICS group’s expanded meeting, where he advocated for stopping aggression and implementing UN Security Council resolutions to establish a viable Palestinian state.
Kuwait and Tajikistan, which established diplomatic relations in 1995, have a robust foundation for cooperation, he said. The two countries are approaching the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, having signed numerous agreements in education, culture, agriculture, and counter-terrorism. The ambassador expressed optimism about broadening cooperation to include tourism, energy, and water sectors, with efforts underway to facilitate Kuwaiti tourism to Tajikistan. The two nations have signed approximately 22 agreements covering diverse fields, such as political consultations, trade, and security. — KUNA
Kuwait has actively contributed to humanitarian efforts in Tajikistan, including support following natural disasters.
Direct flights between Kuwait and Tajikistan have been operational since 2022, and both countries have waived visa requirements for each other’s citizens holding specific passport types. Ambassador Zubaydzoda highlighted the cultural commonalities between the two nations, advocating for increased exchange of literary and educational delegations. He praised Kuwait’s significant contributions to Arab cultural initiatives and expressed hope for Tajikistan to benefit from Kuwait’s experience in promoting knowledge and culture. — KUNA
