Italian embassy launches 10-day cultural festival

KUWAIT: The Embassy of Italy hosted an event titled “Italian Classical Masterpieces” on Monday at the American University of Kuwait, inviting attendees on a unique journey through musical tradition, ethereal harmonies and dazzling virtuosity.

Italian Ambassador to Kuwait Lorenzo Morini launched the 10-day festival “A Journey into Italian Creativity,” organized by the Italian embassy. He highlighted that the festival showcases some of Italy’s most remarkable achievements in art, music, design, fashion, jewelry, and cuisine, all presented in an innovative setting. “It is essential to reach out to all Kuwaitis and share these elements that strengthen the enduring bond between Italy and Kuwait.”

Ambassador Morini expressed his pride in inaugurating the festival with a distinguished concert that captures the essence of Italian classical masterpieces and musical artistry, emphasizing that the featured ensemble, the Chamber Orchestra “I Filarmonici di Roma,” is renowned as one of Italy’s leading classical music groups. Founded in 1976, it quickly gained acclaim from critics and audiences alike, performing with some of the world’s most celebrated artists.

“I Filarmonici di Roma boasts a diverse repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary compositions, adapting to various formations. Additionally, they have supported numerous humanitarian initiatives with organizations such as the United Nations, the Italian Red Cross, and the Association for Cancer Research,” he said. “We will experience the brilliance of I Filarmonici in a string quintet formation, featuring Anna Pugliese, Andrea Casarano, Piero Cardarelli, Manfred Croci, and Luca Pincini. They will perform masterpieces by iconic Italian composers — Vivaldi, Rossini, Tartini, Pergolesi, and Respighi — offering a glimpse into the Italian spirit and its passionate dedication to art and beauty.”
