MOSCOW: Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya and Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov held talks on Monday during an official visit to Moscow. Kuwait’s foreign ministry said the two sides discussed latest regional and international developments, foremost being the escalating situations in Palestine and Lebanon, seeking ways to cease hostilities and allowing safe passage of aid to those in need.

They also discussed the impacts of the controversial decision by the Iraqi Federal Supreme Court on the Khor Abdullah agreement, as well as completing the demarcation of the Kuwaiti-Iraqi maritime border beyond mark no. 162. They similarly discussed means to resolving the Kuwait-Iran marine borders dossier. The two also touched on the Syrian crisis and international efforts to find a political solution that ends the suffering of the Syrian people.

Yahya conveyed greetings of the Kuwaiti leadership and people to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Russian Federation and its friendly people, praising historical relations and the strong strategic partnership between the two countries. Lavrov conveyed his greetings to the Kuwaiti leadership, government and friendly people, praising deep-rooted bilateral ties. Other issues discussed included ways of strengthening bilateral relations to push development and growth further, as well as mutual goals the two countries wish to achieve. – KUNA
