KUWAIT: Oud Fashion Talks returned to Kuwait on October 17 and 18, continuing its mission to support the growth of the creative economy in the region. The event gathered global experts in the fashion and creative industries, providing valuable insights to help Kuwaiti creators learn how to manage their businesses and build a strong foundation. It focused on raising awareness of how soft power can contribute to the overall economic development of the country.
The program highlighted the importance of educating creators and designers on how to start sustainable businesses, build brands, and explore job opportunities in the creative sector, emphasizing sustainability as a core part of the business model in creative industries.
The event began with a lavish dinner on October 17 at the Al-Shaheed Park in downtown Kuwait. Distinguished international and Kuwaiti guests attended, including Imran Amed, Founder and CEO of the Business of Fashion, Khalid Al-Tayer (CEO of OUNASS and Al Tayer Group), Comedian and Activist Bassem Youssef, Tunisian actress Dorra Zarrouk, global influencer and UN Ambassador Karen Wazen, veteran Kuwaiti Actress Huda Hussein, as well as senior management from the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), Tamdeen Group, and Beidoun Group, along with several local and regional stars and influencers.
OUD Fashion Talks was established to support local designers and businesses, creating a solid framework to connect Kuwaiti talent with the global fashion industry. The event developed skills through discussions and workshops, helping creators grow their businesses, ultimately contributing to job creation in the private sector. This initiative plays a significant role in diversifying income sources and expanding the local creative economy in Kuwait, with the fashion industry being a vital source of new job opportunities.
The discussion sessions allowed designers and creatives to engage with industry leaders like Elie Saab, Imran Amed, and Mohammad Almarzouq, CEO of Tamdeen Retail, among others. These experts shared their insights on overcoming challenges, building successful businesses, and motivating others through their experiences. Workshops provided practical guidance, in partnership with Instagram (Meta), to help creatives grow their businesses digitally and taught them professional fashion design and photography techniques. These workshops enabled participants to elevate their skills from hobbyist to professional levels, opening new income sources.
OUD Fashion Talks played a strategic role in highlighting Kuwaiti creative brands. After participating in OUD Fashion Talks, these brands attracted the attention of major investors like Bloomingdale’s and Harvey Nichols, leading to collaboration opportunities. The event also introduced a wave of new customers, enhancing the standing of local talented creators in the market. Networking opportunities enriched attendees’ knowledge and fostered active interaction networks, increasing coverage in regional and international media. Among the notable successes achieved by OUD Fashion Talks was the establishment of "Ibrah,” a local production facility that now proudly supports Kuwait’s creative economy.

This year, OUD Fashion Talks partnered with Kuwait’s Touristic Enterprise Company (TEC) to provide free registration, ensuring broad accessibility for all attendees.
