KUALA LAMPUR: Increasing flight operations between India and Kuwait is a "top priority” for the Kuwaiti airlines, said Head of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Kuwait (DGCA) Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. In a meeting with Asangba Chuba, India’s civil aviation authority undersecretary, Sheikh Humoud emphasized the need for Indian authorities to coordinate with Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to sign an agreement to boost operations as soon as possible.
The meeting was one of several Sheikh Humoud held with officials in the aviation industry, including representatives of Uganda, Rwanda, the Dominican Republic, and Oman, on during the closing sessions of the annual meeting of the International Civil Aviation Conference (ICAO 2024) held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Discussions between Rwanda and Kuwait bore fruit Friday as the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding to exchange expertise and training in various fields, including air safety, navigation, and aviation security. The agreement came after Sheikh Humoud held two meetings with deputy director general of civil aviation in Rwanda Winnie Ngamije.
Sheikh Humoud discussed way to develop bilateral relations in civil aviation with deputy director general of Uganda’s civil aviation authority Olive Birungi Lumonya. The two sides explored the possibility of establishing a partnership between Kuwait Airways and Uganda Airlines, and examined the air transport markets in the two countries.
Sheikh Humoud also met with Oman’s chairman of the civil aviation authority Nayef Al-Abri, to discuss key developments and future plans for civil aviation and to exchange ideas on upcoming events in the regional and global aviation sectors. He also congratulated Hector Porcella, head of the civil aviation authority in the Dominican Republic, on his country’s approval by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to host the ICAO conference in 2025, expressing his best wishes for the Dominican Republic’s success in organizing this global event and offering all possible cooperation.
The ICAO 2024 annual meeting, organized and overseen by ICAO, ended Friday after running for five days with participation from civil aviation authorities worldwide and numerous regional and international organizations specializing in civil aviation. This international meeting provided a platform for negotiations and consultations on air services, allowing policymakers, regulatory bodies, aircraft operators, and other stakeholders to connect.
