KUWAIT: The Youth Public Authority launched the Kuwait Debates project in partnership with the Ministry of Education and a number of state institutions and civil society to unify efforts in organizing unified activities and competitions so as to enhance and develop the skills of persuasion, critical thinking, analysis, and scientific research among young people.
Abdullah Al-Adwani, Acting Deputy Director General of the Youth Development Sector at the Authority, said in a press statement to the Authority that the committee includes representatives of the Ministry of Education, Kuwait University, the Kuwaiti Debate Club, and representatives of civil society and will include all targeted segments of school and university students until after graduation.
For his part, one of the representatives and the technical director of the Arabic language, Bader Al-Shatti, said on the official website of the Ministry that this cooperation is considered a consolidation of an important principle, which is to invest in young people and develop their methods of thinking to create a generation capable of giving and aims to spread the culture of debate. It also promotes the style of dialogue in society.
Al-Shatti explained that the participation of the Ministry of Education in the committee is aimed at supporting the student activity and to give them the opportunity to get acquainted, exchange experiences, and create bridges of communication based on dialogue and logic, in addition to raising the status of the Arabic language as an enriching cultural medium. —KUNA
