‘My Job’ exhibition opens opportunities

KUWAIT: Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Education Dr Nader Al-Jallal stressed on Thursday the importance of the private sector’s role in employing Kuwaiti youth and investing their energies and skills in the labor market to enable them to contribute to the development of their country and society. Speaking to reporters after the opening of the third edition of the “My Job” exhibition at Arena Kuwait in 360 Mall, which is sponsored by him, Al-Jallal said that the exhibition allows young graduates to learn about job opportunities in the largest national institutions and companies, praising the important role of the private sector in absorbing these energies.

He called on high school students to visit the exhibition, which is considered one of the largest gatherings for job opportunities locally. The three-day event will help the youths to learn about the needs of the labor market in the coming periods and the required specialization and appropriate job for them. He praised the “distinguished” organization of the exhibition and the support of state institutions and bodies, expressing hope that it would result in accepting the largest number of applicants.

For her part, Acting Deputy Director General for National Manpower Affairs at the Public Authority of Manpower Najat Al-Yousef expressed her happiness with the Authority’s supervision of the exhibition, stressing its keenness to support young job seekers in the private sector and the importance of guiding and directing young people in this regard. Al-Yousef called on the private sector to provide more employment opportunities at a time when “the Authority’s latest statistics recorded about 7,900 male and female job seekers,” indicating the importance of employing young people, developing their skills, and investing in their ideas.

Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Youth Nasser Al-Sheikh expressed at the opening ceremony of the exhibition his keenness and interest in enhancing the capabilities of young people and providing them with opportunities to succeed in life. Al-Sheikh said that the Youth Authority works in partnership with relevant state institutions through its programs and projects to provide young people with the appropriate skills that will help them compete in the labor market. — KUNA
