Ministry to sign 18 contracts for road maintenance

KUWAIT: Acting Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah affirmed the Ministry of Interior’s keenness to support the Ministry of Public Works and the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport in implementing the road maintenance plan according to the schedule, avoiding delays and overcoming obstacles facing the projects.

This came in a press statement issued by the General Department of Public Relations at the Ministry of Interior on Wednesday following a coordination meeting attended that was by Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Al-Meshaan, assistant undersecretaries and department directors in the two ministries, and those concerned

with road projects, operation and maintenance, and water projects. Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef directed them to continue their work, stressing the need to achieve citizens’ aspirations and solve all road and street problems.

He called for establishing a joint operations room working 24 hours per day from all parties concerned with road development operations in the country. Minister Al-Meshaan indicated, according to the statement, that the Ministry of Public Works and the Roads Authority are about to sign 18 contracts with local, Gulf, and international companies in the coming few days for the maintenance of all main expressways and streets in the six governorates of Kuwait.

She appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Interior in facilitating the work of the existing authorities in addition to developing plans to manage roads during the maintenance process, which includes closing some roads and opening alternative routes to ensure smooth traffic. She called on citizens and residents to cooperate with the Ministry. – KUNA
