Dubai-based telecom council recognizes Zain’s leadership in delivering 5G experiences

KUWAIT: Zain won the Outstanding Mobile Broadband Network Quality award under the Leadership in User Experience category during the second edition of the Leadership and Excellence Awards (LEAD), recently organized by SAMENA Telecommunications Council in Dubai. This prestigious award acknowledges Zain’s leadership in delivering an exceptional 5G user experience, excelling in speed, reliability, and quality for its customers in Kuwait.

The event was attended by top executives and leaders from major telecom operators, ICT providers, and industry regulatory bodies in the Middle East and North Africa. SAMENA Telecommunications Council CEO Bocar A BA presented the award on stage to Daaij Al-Oud, Chief Technology Officer of Zain Kuwait.

This recognition affirms Zain’s leadership in continuously enhancing its 5G network technologies to keep pace with the significant developments in the telecom and ICT sectors. The award underscores the company’s strategic vision of securing a competitive edge in the digital era by delivering world-class services, pioneering innovations, and exceptional customer experiences.

Zain continues to innovate 5G-powered experiences for its customers, ensuring the highest levels of quality to deliver a superior digital experience. As the era of 5G Advanced technologies approaches, the company aims to maintain its leadership position in the region by building a robust and advanced network.

Zain’s recent accomplishments demonstrate its ambition to lead the telecom and ICT sectors, strengthening its position as a leading digital service provider in the Kuwaiti market and across the region. This year, Zain continues to lead the expansion of the 5G market and enhance its network infrastructure. The company achieved an exceptional speed rate of over 450 Mbps, efficiently managing a massive volume of 5G data, which accounts for more than 55 percent of its mobile broadband traffic.

Zain remains committed to investing in its 5G network infrastructure, consistently leveraging the latest innovative technologies to deliver the highest speeds and best experiences. The company is preparing for the 5G Advanced era by making early investments in upgrading and enhancing its technology infrastructure.

Earlier this year, Zain achieved a significant milestone by reaching speeds of 10 Gbps following a successful trial of 5G Advanced technology, becoming the first operator in the Kuwaiti telecom market to successfully test this technology. Additionally, the company successfully tested Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communication (URLLC) on its standalone 5G network, a key feature of 5G Advanced technology.

Zain is expected to commercially launch 5G Advanced services in 2025 to meet the evolving needs of customers, businesses, and government entities. As a pioneer of the 5G revolution in Kuwait and the region, Zain aims to create new service experiences that exceed the speed, reliability, and quality its customers expect. The company will continue to build the next generation of networks, foster innovation, and support Kuwait’s digital transformation initiatives.

The LEAD Excellence Awards are one of the most prestigious regional platforms celebrating achievements in the telecom and information technology sectors in the region. They are organized by the SAMENA Council, a coalition of telecommunications companies covering three broad geographic regions: South Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. These awards highlight the accelerating efforts of technology players, digital service providers, telecom operators, regulatory bodies, and others. This year’s awards focused on five fronts: Innovation, Business Leadership, User Experience Delivery, Fixed Wireless Access, and Regulatory Enablement.
