CAN organizes table tennis championship

KUWAIT: The Second Women Table Tennis Championship organized by Cancer Aware Nation for women with cooperation by the Kuwait Society for the Blind concluded with a ceremony of distributing awards to the winners in the presence of CAN board member who is in charge of this month’s breast cancer awareness initiative Dr Hussa Majid Al-Shaheen.

Dr Al-Shaheen started the event by congratulating Chairman of the Blind Society Fayez Al-Azmi on the 52nd anniversary of the Society’s establishment and has been serving this group of people ever since.

Dr Al-Shaheen said the awareness campaign is being held under the patronage of Social, Family and Childhood Affairs Minister Dr Amthal Al-Huwailah as “we focus on awareness of the most important first signs of breast cancer for early detection which contributes to quick treatment and full recovery”.

She said we also draw attention to following the correct nutrition and physical activity to prevent several diseases including cancer, as breast cancer is on top of cancer cases in women.

She said we were keen on having cooperation with Kuwait Society for the Blind by organizing a sports activity for women specially that there are 500 women members, so CAN was keen to encourage them to practice sports, and as the first championship was a success we went ahead and organized the second one which concluded on Monday Oct 14.

The winners of the tournament were Elham Dallah first, Sahar Saad second and Mariam Al-Kandary third. The rest of participants were handed consolation awards. KSB Chairman Al-Enezi thanked CAN for organizing the championship for the members which encourages the ladies to be interested in their health.
