14 students represent Kuwait in 10th Gulf Scientific Olympiad

KUWAIT: Fourteen Kuwaiti students, both male and female, have been selected to participate in the tenth Gulf Scientific Olympiad, which began on Sunday in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. This event is organized by the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) in collaboration with the Saudi Ministry of Education. The students, representing eight high schools from across Kuwait, arrived on Friday to compete alongside 84 other students and 44 supervisors from the GCC. Kuwait’s team consists of six female and eight male students, who will take part in both theoretical and practical exams in mathematics, chemistry, and physics.

In a statement, the Kuwait Ministry of Education expressed its commitment to involving students in international competitions, which help nurture talent, enhance skills, and promote innovation in scientific fields. The ministry highlighted that such events provide valuable opportunities for students to exchange experiences.

Taking place from October 12 to 15, the Olympiad is hosted by the Madinah Education Department and aims to enhance students’ abilities to keep up with recent advancements in science. It also helps students explore their scientific interests and future aspirations, all while preparing for the International Olympiad. The event includes workshops led by specialized scientific teams. Results of the competition will be announced on October 15. — Agencies
