KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent on Thursday a cable of condolences to the family of deceased Kuwait Air Force Pilot Flight Lieutenant Mohammad Mahmoud Abdulrasoul who died in a crash while on a training flight north of the country.

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah sent condolences to the family, as well. His Highness the Amir, the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister wished mercy on the soul of the deceased pilot and solace for the family of Abdulrasoul.

People gathered Thursday morning to bid farewell to Abdulrasoul at the Sulaibikhat cemetery. Officials, including First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, were present as the martyred pilot was laid to rest.

On Wednesday, Defense Ministry spokesman Colonel Hamad Al-Saqr announced the crash of an F-18 fighter jet belonging to the Kuwait Air Force and the martyrdom of its pilot while carrying out a training flight mission.

Colonel Al-Saqr added in a statement issued by the Defense Ministry an investigation was underway to uncover the details of the incident and its causes. Officials in neighboring countries have mourned the pilot in separate statements to KUNA, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Jordan.
