KUWAIT: Gulf Bank has announced the six winners of its interactive social media competition, who will be sponsored and trained to compete in the Gulf Bank 642 Marathon, the only marathon in Kuwait with international accreditation. In partnership with Suffix Sports Event Management Company and sponsored by Ali Abdulwahab Al-Mutawa Commercial Company, DISC (Diversified Integrated Sports Clinic), and Basic Diet Kuwait, the six participants will participate in an extensive six-week training program, overseen by Coach Mohammed Al-Hathal.
This initiative seeks to inspire a lifestyle transformation by promoting regular exercise and healthy eating as fundamental components of daily life. This focus is especially important given the increasing prevalence of diabetes, obesity, and heart disease in the community, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced fitness and lifestyle changes.
The Gulf Bank 642 Marathon annually attracts thousands of athletes and running enthusiasts from around the world, featuring a vibrant atmosphere and a scenic route that highlights iconic landmarks. Participants will enjoy the stunning sights of the Kuwait Towers, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre, the Grand Mosque, Souq Al-Mubarakiya, and Gulf Bank’s historic headquarters, among other notable sites.
The Gulf Bank 642 Marathon features four categories designed to accommodate participants of all abilities: a 5K walk or run, a 10K run, a half marathon (21K), and a full marathon (42K). Participants aged 11 and older can join the 5K, while those 16 and older are eligible for the 10K. The half marathon is open to runners aged 18 and above.
