KUWAIT: Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) affirmed on Tuesday that preserving gas cylinders and their safety is a shared responsibility that requires concerted efforts of all concerned parties and consumers. This came in a speech delivered by the Senior Warehouse Analyst at the Liquefied Gas Filling Branch in Al-Shaabiya, Amna Naseeb, during an event organized by the company in cooperation with the General Fire Force under the title ‘Safety with Every Cylinder’.
Naseeb pointed out the KOTC’s commitment to global safety, security, and quality standards in dealing with gas cylinders before they reach consumers, noting the company’s keenness to ensure the safe preservation and transportation of gas cylinders to consumers. She explained that the cylinders go through several stages to ensure their safety before they are safely released to gas branches, in parallel with moving forward with short- and medium-term plans to address damages resulting from misuse.
For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al-Hajji from the General Fire Force gave a visual presentation on the causes of widespread fires and ways to reduce and limit their spread, in addition to the importance of acquiring fire protection means. Al-Hajji explained that some simple accidents, like children playing with it or electrical short circuit issues, can spark fire. He stressed the need to spread awareness among the public to reduce accidents in homes, commercial complexes, investment housing, elevator and escalator accidents, and evacuation routes. — KUNA
