US ambassador visits foreign workers’ shelter

KUWAIT: The Public Authority of Manpower welcomed US Ambassador to Kuwait Karen Sasahara during her field visit to the foreign workers’ shelter. She was received by Acting Deputy Director General for Labor Protection Dr Fahad Al-Murad. The visit aimed to review the process of receiving foreign workers and the role of government agencies at the center, in addition to the various services provided to the female residents, including healthcare, psychological support and legal assistance. The ambassador was briefed on all relevant information and statistics regarding the number of residents at the shelter.

During the visit, Sasahara observed the care and rehabilitation procedures followed at the center, praising the efforts made to provide social and psychological protection, as well as dignified living conditions for the residents, while ensuring their legal rights. The ambassador also toured the center’s facilities, which were highlighted as a unique experience in the GCC and Middle East region in terms of services provided and capacity. Sasahara expressed her deep gratitude to all the staff at the center for their continuous efforts in supporting the female residents, commending their dedication to improving living and care conditions.
