GCC Undersecretaries discuss technological developments

DOHA: The 30th meeting of the Committee of Undersecretaries of Post and Telecommunications of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries was held in the Qatari capital Doha on Wednesday with the participation of Kuwait Chairman of the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA). Eng Ahmed Al-Musalmani said in a speech at the meeting that cooperation in the fields of post and telecommunications has gained increasing importance in light of the rapid technological developments witnessed in our world today.

Al-Musalmani stressed the need to enhance coordination and exchange of expertise in the post and telecommunications sectors to support the process of development and economic integration among the GCC countries, noting that the meeting represents a valuable opportunity to discuss ways to enhance the level of cooperation, overcome obstacles, and come up with practical recommendations that contribute to achieving the desired goals.

For his part, Head of the Economic Affairs Sector at the General Secretariat of the Gulf Transport and Communications Cooperation Council, Dr Waleed Al-Hosani, congratulated the member states on the qualitative leap they have achieved in the field of communications and post. He explained that the committee meeting discussed many topics that directly touch the Gulf citizen and contribute to driving the economy. The Kuwaiti delegation participating in the meeting includes Acting Chairman of the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority Abdullah Al-Ajmi and Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Communications, Eng Mishaal Al-Zaid. — KUNA
