KUWAIT: Theatre enthusiasts in Oman are in for a cultural treat as the 8th Omani Theatre Festival kicks off on September 22, 2024, at the prestigious Al-Irfan Theatre, Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. Kuwaiti intellectuals and artists have been invited to attend the festival, where eight Omani theatrical groups will compete for top prizes, showcasing creative and diverse performances.

Dr Nermin Al-Houti, associate professor at Kuwait Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, at the Department of Theatrical Criticism and Literature, was selected by Oman’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Undersecretary for Culture Saeed bin Sultan bin Yaarub Albousaeedi to be one of the panelists critiquing the festival’s opening performance, ‘Al Jadr’, to be performed by Luban Troupe on Monday September 23.

In addition to the main performances, the festival will also include art exhibitions and intellectual seminars. Guest artists from across the Arab world will attend, including renowned names from the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. The festival will also honor prominent figures in Omani theatre.
