KUNA Media Center launches linguistic training program

KUWAIT: The KUNA Center for Media Development launched a training program titled “Linguistic Skills for Media Professionals” on Sunday with the participation of a number of employees of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Emirates News Agency (WAM), and a number of employees of government and private institutions in the country.

The program, presented by Dr Tariq Al-Bakri, uses a theoretical, practical approach and addresses the Arabic language, sentence structure and components, grammatical basics in writing, the relationship between language and journalistic writing, as well as common linguistic errors in media writing and how to overcome and correct them.

The program, which will continue until September 12, also addresses technical and linguistic principles, writing skills, the use of language in simple and complex news, news coverage, and the rules of linguistically and editorially correct writing of media material, in addition to the relationship between the Arabic language and types of media materials in terms of form and content, and the use of language and knowledge in media skills.

KUNA Center for Media Development, which was established in December 1995, is considered one of the most important media training centers. It has provided hundreds of training programs in various media fields and aims to develop personal media capabilities and potentials and advance professional media work. — KUNA
