Chinese Embassy hosts grand cultural showcase in Kuwait

The Chinese Embassy in Kuwait with the cooperation of the Chinese Cultural Center held, on Tuesday, an acrobatic show entitled “A moonmoment to remember in Kuwait.”

During his remarks, Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jianwei said “The Moon is always depicted as an image with distinctive meanings in both Arab Islamic and Chinese civilizations. For example, the Holy Quran recorded the miracle of splitting the moon of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), while the ancient Chinese myth of Chang’e flying to the moon is widely known in China. Held on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month in the Chinese calendar, the Mid-Autumn Festival is an important moment for the Chinese to gather with their families. It is a day marked by family reunions, eating moon cakes, and appreciating the full moon.”

The Ambassador highlighted that cultural exchanges between China and Kuwait have enhanced mutual understanding and affinity between the two peoples and given strong momentum to the progress of bilateral relations on all fronts, adding “We will present to our Kuwaiti friends the fine traditional Chinese culture by organizing various cultural exchange activities. This will promote understanding and cooperation and contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind.”

He added, “Though geographically far apart, the Chinese and Kuwaiti peoples have forged a profound friendship and admired each other. The first China Cultural Center in the Gulf region was launched in Kuwait for trial operation last year. Since then, an array of wonderful events has been staged at the center, attracting many of the Kuwaiti people. As President Xi Jinping said, civilizations have become richer and more colorful with exchanges and mutual learning.”

Chinese ambassador noted that his country desires to draw insight from various civilizations and is willing to promote exchanges and mutual learning between different countries, saying “This is the way to add impetus to the progress of human civilization. Going forward, we will continue to act on the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping and earnestly implement the important common understandings between the leaders of our two nations.”
