KUWAIT: The Summer Shooting Championship for the outstanding in cooperation with Public Authority for Sport (PAS) concluded Tuesday evening at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex. President of Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations Eng. Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi in a statement to journalists said the support of the political leadership for the sport of shooting “enabled it to make many achievements”.
He said the summer championship was a good opportunity to discover promising talents in the pistol and rifle shooting as well as archery. Eng. Al-Otaibi said 70 shooters participated in the three days championship which is the result of long training camp that was held at the club with large participation.
He appreciated the cooperation between the club and PAS to organize such sports event and pointed to the efforts of coaches and organizers from the club and PAS, which led to this success. Eng. Al-Otaibi said the club began its preparation for the launch of the 2024/2025 season which will be opened with HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, to be followed with the local championships, then the season will be concluded with the most important event which is HH the Amir International Shooting Grand Prix.
Meanwhile, Kuwait national team shooters are getting ready for the regional and international event pointing to the selection of shooter Mohammad Al-Daihani among the best 12 shooters to participate in the World Champions finals of the skeet event to be held in India in October. On his part PAS Deputy Director General for the Sports for all sector Hamid Al-Hazeem said PAS aimed out of this gathering to spread the culture of practicing societal non-competitive sport among society members.
He said this sports gathering that lasted for two months saw the participation of more than 200 youth of both genders allowed them to practice their preferred hobbies in shooting sport during summer, and thanked the shooting club for organizing the closing ceremony.
