TUNIS: Competitions of the Arab Juniors Tennis Championship that was hosted by Tunis concluded on Saturday evening with an unprecedented participation of Arab teams.

Chairman of the Board of the Arab Tennis Federation Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah handed the winners their medals and prizes during the closing ceremony at the Tennis Club in Tunis in the presence of Minister of Youth and Sports Kamel Deguiche, Kuwait Ambassador Mansour Al-Omar, Saudi Ambassador Dr Abdulaziz Al-Saqer and several diplomatic and sports dignitaries.

As for the results Egypt won first place in both genders categories for the under 14 years, while Syria won the 12 years for boys while Tunis won first place for girls. Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber was pleased with the success of the tournament and lauded the efforts of Tunis Tennis Federation under the leadership of Dr Salma Mouelhi who was keen on all means of success for this Arab event.

Al-Jaber said the tournament witnessed exciting competition and outstanding levels by all participating teams which indicates that Arab tennis is in the right direction.

He thanked Tunis, for hosting and organizing the tournament and thanked the Tunis Tennis Federation for an outstanding closing ceremony.

Al-Jaber appreciated the keenness of Arab countries to participate in “this brotherly gathering despite challenges and the difficult circumstances facing some countries”. He said the participation of more than 100 players from 10 Arab countries is unprecedented in the juniors championships.

Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber thanked Egypt’s Tennis Federation for granting the winners of the tournament a wild card to participate in the International Tennis Federation that will be held in Egypt.
