KUWAIT: A group of trainees from the ‘NBK Aspire’ summer program concluded their internship with a visit to Kuwait Times and Kuwait News offices on Thursday. The day was marked by a celebratory ceremony where the students received certificates of completion, recognizing their hard work and dedication throughout the program. Starting their tour with the editorial department, the trainees learned about Kuwait Times’ commitment to credible journalism through its reliance on trusted sources and respected local and international news agencies, including KUNA, AFP, and Reuters.
There, they were given a copy of Kuwait Times’ inaugural issue from 1961. As they flipped through the four pages of this vintage paper, the students had the opportunity to see the evolution of print media, tracing its journey from its humble beginnings to its current, modern form. In the archives room, they explored Kuwait’s rich history displayed on the shelves and stumbled upon note worthy news stories from the days they were born.
At the warehouse, they enjoyed playing arcade games, darts, and explored Kuwait Times’ vintage collectibles. Their visit also included a stop at the printing press, where they witnessed the traditional process of newspaper production, from inking the plates to folding and distributing the final product. To remember their visit, students received an instantly printed special edition, a keepsake to take home. At the end of the day, in the studio, some interns were filmed sharing their experiences with the NBK Aspire program and their time at Kuwait Times. They shared how much they enjoyed and valued both experiences, reflecting on their fulfilling summer journey.
