KUWAIT: The Chairman of the Constituent Board of Directors of Abdullah Al-Salem University, Prof. Moudhi Abdulaziz Al-Hamoud, received a delegation from the University of Otago, New Zealand, and the Director of the International Relations Office, Jason Cochin, and the Director of Regional Marketing, Victoria McEniery.
The visit aimed to identify Abdullah Al-Salem University as a newly established Kuwaiti public university, in addition to opening direct channels of communication to enhance the joint cultural and academic relations between Abdullah Al-Salem University and the University of Otago and to discuss ways of joint academic and research cooperation to create joint opportunities that serve the two institutions and the two countries. The meeting was attended by the Director of the Cultural Relations and Missions Department, Mohamed Najm Mal Allah, at the President’s Office at the Khalidiya campus.
In turn, Prof. Al-Humoud welcomed the visiting delegation, praising the good bilateral relations between Kuwait and New Zealand, which include academic student cooperation with Kuwaiti students in various disciplines, stressing the keenness of Abdullah Al-Salem University to build international academic relations and to enhance the university’s role academically. She expressed her aspiration to exchange experiences and cultures between the two universities.
The meeting included a discussion of partnership frameworks and the exchange of academic experiences, in addition to discussing the proposal for student and faculty exchanges in the interest of both parties and strengthening youth capabilities, with the aim of exporting a generation aware and familiar with cultures and scientific research from different countries.
In conclusion, the chairman of the founding board of directors of the university, Prof. Dr. Al-Hamoud, presented a souvenir to the visiting delegation, thanking them for the visit. The University of Otago was founded in New Zealand in 1869. It has earned an excellent international reputation for its research and teaching.
